About E.I.T.
E.I.T. or Engineers In Training is Sigma Phi Delta's own three-day informational orientation program offered to high school students who possess a genuine interest in Engineering at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Invitations are mailed to high school seniors who have been admitted to the University. E.I.T. 2011 will be held from Friday, March 11th to Saturday, March 12th in conjunction with Engineering Open House. This program is held for the benefit of the students, and as such activities have been planned accordingly.
Program Description
Classes / University Tour - Participants will be grouped with a student in his prospective major and be escorted to freshman level classes. Also tours of the University will be given.
Speakers - Various Alumni of the College of Engineering at the University of Illinois will be on hand to speak about their College experiences and how it relates to their current jobs.
Panel Discussions - Engineering majors, versed in coping with different aspects of the college, talk to the participants about anything and everything, including campus involvement, campus life, and how to adjust to college. Also, they will have an opportunity to talk about specific majors and go on Departmental tours.
EOH - One of the largest exhibitions of all things Engineering within the country. Every year, tens of thousands of people from throughout the country descend on Champaign-Urbana. Various exhibits are on hand, as well as Design Competitions involving teams from other Universities. This two-day event will highlight our E.I.T. program. We will conduct the participants in a tour of the Open House. Participants will also have an opportunity to venture out on their own.
Meals - Free breakfast, lunch, and dinner will be served.
Other activities - In the evenings, entertainment such as movies, pool, and bowling will be provided.

This program has been a great teaching tool for our fraternity, but also a way for us to get the word out about our great University. It is held in conjunction with the College of Engineering’s EOH (Engineering Open House) in mid-March. We try to instill a good idea of what Greek life is truly about while giving the students a chance to see the University in a no pressure environment and more casual way.
How To Apply for E.I.T.
The program begins Friday, March 11, at noon. Pick-up will be at your convenience on Saturday. EIT costs $20 (cash or check made out to Delta of Sigma Phi Delta) and includes accommodations and all meals (Although we suggest bringing some spending cash and encourage the students to explore all our campus has to offer). If you cannot attend, we invite you to stop by the chapter house during your placement exams or campus visits. We look forward to seeing you!
